Artist To Watch: Josh Newton & Joe Trohman’s With Knives

After a long twenty hour drive from New York City to Kansas city, Josh Newton (Every Time I Die/ The Damned Things/Shiner) and Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy/ The Damned Things) have been hunkered away in a Kansas City recording studio since Febuary 20th. They’ve been hard at work on their New Project With Knives. On Wednesday (3/14) the band announced via Twitter that the EP was mixed and ready to be released. The EP will be produced by Paul Malinowski (Shiner) and Rob Smith (Riddle Of Steel/Traindodge) will be playing drums. It is also clear from multiple reports that Trohman will take most of the vocal duties.

The band which was originally a side project created by Newton, seems to be getting a lot of press lately as both of these musicians are no longer with their previous bands. And their other band The Damned Things (Which consists of members of Anthrax, Every Time I Die, and Fall out Boy) Is out of commission due to touring behind Anthrax’s new record ‘Worship Music’ and Every Time I Die’s latest release ‘Ex-Lives’. We have not heard any samplings from the new band, but on their Tumblr they said: “If we get 5k followers for @withknives we will post a clip. If we get 5k likes on Facebook, we will post another. It’s simple.” So let’s hope they make it to their goal, as I and many others are anxious to see what comes out of these sessions.
